Which battery does a Audi A4 take?
It depends on the generation and the engine: the Audi A4 has been built with 7 battery sizes (019, 020, 027, 096, 100, 110, 115). The newest first:
- A4 (2007–now): size 096, 115, 019 or 020 (AGM); size 096, 019 or 110 (standard; with stop-start AGM, or EFB on some versions); size 019 or 096 (EFB); size 096 or 115 (standard)
- A4 (1995–2012): size 096, 019, 027 or 100 (standard); size 096, 019, 027, 020 or 110 (standard; with stop-start AGM, or EFB on some versions)
Cars with stop-start need a stop-start battery (EFB or AGM), never a standard one: it would wear out within months. If your car takes AGM, it needs AGM again. Most Audi cars also need the new battery registered with the car’s computer after fitting: we’ll confirm what yours needs when you get in touch.

Does my Audi A4 need an AGM battery?
If it came with AGM, yes: an EFB or standard battery would wear out quickly. If it has stop-start and came with EFB, EFB is right and an AGM is an optional upgrade. Without stop-start, a standard battery is right. The table above shows what each version was built with.
