The short answer
Which battery does a Volkswagen Passat take?
It depends on the generation and the engine: the Volkswagen Passat has been built with 3 battery sizes (019, 027, 096). The newest first:
- Passat B8 (2014–now): size 096 or 027 (EFB); size 096, 027 or 019 (AGM); size 096 (standard)
- Passat (2000–2015): size 096 or 027 (standard; with stop-start AGM, or EFB on some versions); size 096 or 027 (standard)
- Passat (1996–2000): size 096 or 027 (standard)
Cars with stop-start need a stop-start battery (EFB or AGM), never a standard one: it would wear out within months. If your car takes AGM, it needs AGM again. Most Volkswagen cars also need the new battery registered with the car’s computer after fitting: we’ll confirm what yours needs when you get in touch.

Questions
Volkswagen Passat battery questions
What size battery does a Volkswagen Passat take?
The most common is a size 096 battery (standard), but the Volkswagen Passat has been built with 3 battery sizes depending on the generation and engine (see the table above). Check your exact car, or WhatsApp us your reg.
How much is a Volkswagen Passat battery fitted in Nottingham?
From £95.99 fitted while you wait at our Bulwell shop, or from £70.99 to collect, inc. VAT. The price of each battery is in the table above. Fitting is £25 on top of the battery price.
Does my Volkswagen Passat need an AGM battery?
If it came with AGM, yes: an EFB or standard battery would wear out quickly. If it has stop-start and came with EFB, EFB is right and an AGM is an optional upgrade. Without stop-start, a standard battery is right. The table above shows what each version was built with.
Do you take the old battery?
Yes. We take your old battery away and recycle it free, and every battery we fit has a 4-year warranty.
