Understanding the sizes
Hole saws are sized by the diameter of the hole they cut. The arbor holds the saw and carries a pilot drill that locates the cut and stops it wandering.
Working with hole saw
Run at a slow speed with steady pressure — hole saws overheat easily, and heat is what kills the teeth. Back the saw out regularly to clear the waste plug and let it cool. In metal, use cutting fluid.
