What a treatment actually does
Deposits build up in an engine over time — in the fuel system, on valves, in the oil circuit — and they cost efficiency long before they cause a fault. A treatment applied during a car service removes that contamination rather than masking it, which is why it is done on the ramp with the right product for the symptom rather than poured into the tank at a petrol station.
If something specific is wrong — a rough idle, poor economy, a diesel that smokes — tell us the symptom and we will tell you whether a treatment is the answer or whether it needs looking at properly first. Emissions are also part of the MOT, so a car that is due a test and running badly is worth mentioning when you book.
Treatments are usually done alongside other scheduled work such as a timing belt replacement, when the car is in and on the ramp anyway.
