Understanding the sizes
Hammers are specified by head weight and handle material. A heavier head delivers more energy per blow but is slower and more tiring to swing accurately.
Working with hammer
Let the weight of the head do the work — grip near the end of the handle and swing from the elbow rather than forcing it from the wrist. A fibreglass handle absorbs shock and will not dry out or split the way timber can. Never strike a hardened face against another hardened face.
