Understanding the sizes

Metric socket sizes are measured across the flats of the fastener, so a 13mm socket fits a 13mm nut or bolt head. This set covers 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 17 and 18mm. Drive size is the square hole the ratchet plugs into: 1/4in for light work in tight spaces, 3/8in as the everyday middle ground, and 1/2in where real torque is needed.

Working with socket

Individual sockets let you replace a lost size or add a size your set never included, without buying a whole new set. Check the drive size matches your ratchet before ordering — a 1/2in socket will not fit a 3/8in ratchet without an adaptor.
