Understanding the sizes

Pipe tools are specified by the maximum outside diameter of tube they take. This set covers 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16mm. The cutting wheel scores the tube and the rollers keep it tracking in the same groove as you rotate the tool.

Working with pipe tool

Tighten the knob only a fraction between each rotation. Forcing the wheel deforms the tube and leaves an oval end that will not seal, whereas several light passes give a clean square cut. Deburr the inside edge afterwards so flow is not restricted.

Copper plumbing and heating pipework, refrigeration and pneumatic lines, and any thin-wall tube needing a square cut in situ.
