The short answer
Which oil does a Fiat 500 take?
The oil your Fiat 500 needs depends on its engine and when it was built. Below is what the carmaker lists for each 500 engine — 2 generations and 7 engine types in our table — and the oils we sell that state it: NAPA from our Bulwell shelf, plus Castrol, Mobil and Valvoline delivered next day.
- 500 500 Hybrid (2026) (2026–now) — petrol: Fiat 9.55535-DM1 (0W-20)
- 500 312 (2008–2024) — petrol: Fiat 9.55535-S2 (5W-40), Fiat 9.55535-GS1 (0W-30) or Fiat 9.55535-DM1 (0W-20); diesel: Fiat 9.55535-S1 (5W-30) or Fiat 9.55535-DS1 (0W-30)
The grade (such as 5W-30) and the approval (such as a carmaker code) both need to match your handbook. If your car has a particulate filter, the low-ash oil the handbook lists protects it.
By generation

Where we mark “check your handbook”, the approval changed during production or we could not confirm it in a carmaker’s own document. Check your exact car in the finder or WhatsApp us your reg.
