The oil your Ford Fiesta needs depends on its engine and when it was built. Below is what the carmaker lists for each Fiesta engine — 3 generations and 12 engine types in our table — and the oils we sell that state it: NAPA from our Bulwell shelf, plus Castrol, Mobil and Valvoline delivered next day.

The grade (such as 5W-30) and the approval (such as a carmaker code) both need to match your handbook. If your car has a particulate filter, the low-ash oil the handbook lists protects it.

For the Fiesta Mk7: 1.25 / 1.4 / 1.6 Ti-VCT (2013-2017), 1.0 / 1.0 EcoBoost / 1.6 EcoBoost ST; Fiesta Mk8: 1.1 Ti-VCT, 1.0 EcoBoost (incl. mild hybrid), 1.5 EcoBoost ST. Ford's 5W-20 specification for the 1.0 EcoBoost petrol and some other EcoBoost engines.

Ford WSS-M2C913-D oil

For the Fiesta Mk5 / Mk6: 1.25 / 1.3 / 1.4 / 1.6 / 2.0 ST, 1.4 / 1.6 TDCi; Fiesta Mk7: 1.25 / 1.4 / 1.6 Ti-VCT (2008-2012), 1.4 / 1.6 TDCi. Ford's long-standing 5W-30 specification, listed by many Fords built before about 2015.

Ford WSS-M2C950-A oil

For the Fiesta Mk7: 1.5 TDCi (2014 on); Fiesta Mk8: 1.5 TDCi (to 2018). Ford's 0W-30 specification for many newer diesel engines with a particulate filter.

Ford WSS-M2C952-A1 oil

For the Fiesta Mk8: 1.5 EcoBlue (2018 on). Ford's 0W-20 specifications for some newer petrol engines.

What engine oil does a Ford Fiesta take?

What grade of oil does a Ford Fiesta use?

Most Fiesta engines in our table list 5W-20; others list 5W-30, 0W-30 or 0W-20. Use the grade your handbook gives together with its approval: the same grade can carry different approvals.

Does my Fiesta need low-ash (low SAPS) oil?

If it has a particulate filter, yes: use the low-ash approval its handbook lists, such as Ford WSS-M2C913-D or Ford WSS-M2C950-A. A high-ash oil can block the filter over time.
