Understanding the sizes

Metric socket sizes are measured across the flats of the fastener, so a 13mm socket fits a 13mm nut or bolt head. This set covers 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24mm. Drive size is the square hole the ratchet plugs into: 1/4in for light work in tight spaces, 3/8in as the everyday middle ground, and 1/2in where real torque is needed.

Working with socket

Individual sockets let you replace a lost size or add a size your set never included, without buying a whole new set. Check the drive size matches your ratchet before ordering — a 1/2in socket will not fit a 3/8in ratchet without an adaptor.
