Understanding the sizes
Caulking guns are specified by the cartridge size they take. A smooth-rod gun with a high thrust ratio handles stiff sealants and cold-weather work far better than a basic ratchet-rod gun.
Working with caulking gun
Cut the nozzle at 45 degrees and no larger than the gap needs — you can always cut more. Move at a steady pace with consistent pressure, then tool the bead within a few minutes while it is still workable. Release the trigger at the end of the run to stop ooze.
